Dixie varsity tennis ended their region season going 2-4 and 3-11 overall landing them in 5th place for region. Although that’s not the outcome they were looking for, they had to deal with many hardships such as losing many players that were seniors, and a new head coach. The girls had 165 matches, 33 wins, and 132 losses, which gives them a 20% win percentage. I talked to Lucy Christiansen and she said that the beginning of the season was rough. They lost many varsity players who either graduated or quit because they didn’t like the new coaches. Despite the underwhelming season the players still had moments that will stick with them forever. Lucy says her favorite moment this year was all the girls sweeping Pineview, which is one of those moments why we play sports. Towards the end of the season, they started to pick up more and start winning more matches. The Region season ended two weeks ago which meant it was time for them to go up north and take on the task of going for state. Last week during school days some of the players went up north to compete. The team had a great time spending time together traveling to and from the tournament which was a good send-off for the seniors. Unfortunately, they got knocked out in the first round which was upsetting for a lot of them but they still cherished the time they got to spend with each other this season.

My name is Drew Harper, and I am a senior at Dixie High. I like spending time with friends and family, playing lacrosse and snowboarding. My favorite sport is hockey because it has the perfect combination of each sport.
I don’t like how any drink at the vending machines is 2.50$ because no one has that many quarters. What I enjoy most about Dixie is how you can get a parking spot so you don’t have to walk far if you’re late. I plan on going to Utah Tech to play lacrosse and get a degree.
